Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, National President of All India Muslim Jamaat, has given his reaction on the issue of conversion. Maulana said that Allahabad High Court has commented that if conversion continues, the majority population may become a minority. This may be the concern of any region. But in Uttar Pradesh, there is no work of conversion being done by Muslims or Christians anywhere. Neither is there any such organization of minorities that tempts people to convert.
Maulana said that a law on religious conversion has already been made in Uttar Pradesh. It has the harshest sections, if any person converts in Uttar Pradesh, he will be sent to jail under this law. Maulana further said that the Constitution allows voluntary religious conversion, but threatening, intimidating or luring someone to convert is against the Constitution. Islam also teaches the same thing.
Shahabuddin Razvi said that in his entire life, the Prophet of Islam never converted anyone by luring or threatening them, but he always preached to adopt goodness and stay away from evil. Many people adopted Islam by seeing and later reading the life and character of the Prophet of Islam. The Prophet of Islam has been implementing with full force the order that no inducement will be given for the propagation and spread of Islam.
